Love Letters from a Gangsta by Shvonne Latrice
Let me tell y’all something real quick: I was up ‘til 3 a.m. reading this book with my eyes burning, my heart racing, and my brain screaming, “Girl, one more chapter!” I had been saving Love Letters from a Gangsta for forever because I wanted to collect the rest of the series in paperback first. I already have the first two physical copies, and I was holding out hoping I’d find the rest in print, but that search was dragging, and curiosity finally got the best of me. So I caved and pulled it up on Kindle Unlimited, and listen, I should’ve BEEN read this. Because this book was everything. I didn’t just read it, I devoured it. Let’s get into it.
First of all, Lequay is one of them ones. And I mean that with my full chest. He is not the type of man you play about, and definitely not the type you play with. When it came to his family, he was serious. But when it came to Scotland? Oh, he was deadly. Messing with that woman would send you straight to the pearly gates with no hesitation, no warnings, just violence. And honestly, I ate it up! Lequay didn’t just protect Scotland; he cherished her. This man loved her out loud, in the open, with no confusion or hesitation. It was beautiful to see a man who didn’t just say he loved his woman, but he showed it. Loudly, proudly, and consistently.
Now let’s talk about my girl Scotland. That girl had been through it. And not just the “I had a bad day” kind of struggle, nope, she faced real trauma, heartbreak, and betrayal. But still, she carried herself with strength and grace, even when the weight of her past tried to break her. Lequay came in and didn’t just fall in love with her, he restored her. He gave her the space to be soft, to feel safe, and to finally start healing. She got the kind of love that’s intentional, life-altering, and the “I got you even when the world doesn’t” love she always deserved.
Shvonne Latrice didn’t just write a love story; she gave us a little action, emotion, suspense, and straight-up GANGSTA FAIRYTALE realness. The plot was tight, the drama was wild, and every twist had me locked in. One minute I was smiling, the next I was holding my breath. This book gave me everything. And let me just say: when Lequay went into “handle it” mode, everybody cleared the way. I love a man who doesn’t hesitate when it’s time to protect what’s his.
Final Thoughts
Love Letters from a Gangsta was worth every second of lost sleep, every page flip, and every emotional rollercoaster moment. It gave me all the feels. I’m officially in love with Lequay and Scotland, and now I will be reading the rest of the series IMMEDIATELY. To all my romance and urban fiction lovers, especially the ones who live for protective, all-in, hood kings who love with their whole chest, this one is for YOU. Don’t be like me and wait. Go ahead and fall into the world of the Compton brothers. You won’t regret it.
