Okay, besties, let’s talk about 10,000 Hours with a Rich Menace by Jahquel J because whew, this book was unhinged! And if you love an unhinged MMC, then this book is for you!
Now, this was my first Jahquel J book (Nope! Don’t fight me, fight ya mamma!), and I’m not sure I should have started with this one, but oh well I did! And listen, after reading this, I knew I had to go back and get the full story on these characters. So, I’m about to dive into the Delgato Family series, starting with Capone and working my way back here because the supporting cast had me intrigued, and I need all the tea!
But let’s get back to Menace. First of all, his name alone should have been a warning. He was a whole menace capital M! He was wild, reckless, and just did not care, and yet? I loved every bit of it! The way he moved through life on his own terms was both hilarious and insane. And the way Mitchell and Wonder had me CACKLING? Should honestly be studied.
Now, let’s talk about Stevie. She was the perfect balance to Menace’s madness. I loved watching her navigate this dynamic because, let’s be real, it was a lot. But she held her own, and I respected that. And then Maverick? Him learning to love Stevie in his own way I thoroughly enjoyed?
This book wasn’t just a story about an unhinged man with money; it was layered with drama, action, and a love story that had me hooked. The way Jahquel J wrote these characters was perfect. The dialogue was sharp, witty, and full of personality, which made the book impossible to put down.
Final Thought
All in all, this book was a wild ride, and I was strapped in the whole time! If you like an MMC who is completely off the rails, hilarious, and absolutely unforgettable, then you need to read this. And as for me? I’m about to take this Delgato Family journey because I need to know everything. Jahquel J, you got me now! I’m in it for the long haul!
