Capone 1 – 3 by Jahquel J.

Alright, y’all, let’s get into it. Is this a series? A season? A cinematic, action packed, heart pounding rollercoaster? I don’t know, but what I do know is this: this is a review of Capone, and baby WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG TO READ THIS?! Somebody should have physically removed this from my TBR and forced it into my hands because this series had me in a chokehold from start to finish.

From the moment I opened book one, I knew I was in for a ride, but I had no idea I was about to meet one of the most unhinged characters I have ever read. Capone was a menace. I’ve read about some wild main characters, but this dude was in a league of his own. And the thing is, I haven’t even gotten into Cappadonna yet, so I don’t know if his twin is worse (or better, depending on how you look at it), but what I do know is that Capone was built differently, and I was here for it.

Capone did not play when it came to his family. At all. He is dangerous, unpredictable, and will burn the world down if it means protecting the people he loves. The way this man moved was lethal, calculated, and ruthless. And yet, there’s a code to his madness, he doesn’t move recklessly and he moves with purpose. When Capone says he’s going to do something, It’s already done. He is a walking promise of destruction for anyone who crosses him or his people.

But here’s what makes him even more intriguing, he’s not just a cold blooded killer. He’s deeply loyal, and when he loves, he loves hard. His family is everything to him. He’s not just about that action for no reason, his loyalty, his sense of duty, and his need to protect those closest to him drive every decision he makes.

And listen, Erin is THAT girl. She is not just Capone’s woman, she is his wife, and when I tell you she holds her own?! Whew! I love a female lead who isn’t just there. Erin is ten toes down for her man, her brother, and the rest of her family. The way she accepts and loves on CJ made my heart melt. She’s solid. She’s fearless. She’s in this life, and she understands exactly what comes with being Mrs. Capone.

Now let’s talk about Capri, because she deserves her flowers too. She may be Capone’s sister, but make no mistake she is NOT some damsel in distress. Capri moves just as smart, just as cold when necessary, and when it comes to handling Naheim? Whew, she ATE him up and left no crumbs. I was cheering when she got her revenge because he deserved every single thing that came his way. Capri is not to be played with, and I loved seeing her as a strong female character. I can’t wait to get to her story.

Now, let’s get into some of these other characters because whew, they had me going THROUGH IT.

Kincaid? I think I like him. I think. He had me side eyeing him SO hard when he messed up, and I wanted to fight him for a second, but by the end I think I’m on board. He seems not only loyal, but solid.

Jaiden stood on business when it mattered most. He made some choices that had me SCREAMING at the book, but he held his own when it counted.

Naheim absolutely not! He got exactly what he deserved. And the audacity to think that Capri was going to be okay with what he did. Sir? Sir? Really?!?!?

The real reason this series hit so hard is because it feels like a whole cinematic event. Jahquel J’s storytelling is elite. The way she wrote these books had me flipping pages until early the next morning. The tension, the action, the raw emotions everything about this series had me on the edge of my seat. The pacing was perfect. The drama was unmatched and I was not fully prepared for it. I was so locked in that I felt like I was watching a high budget crime film unfold right in front of me.

And let me just say, this was my first real dive into Jahquel J’s books, and now I’m hooked. I’ve been seeing Capone pop up EVERYWHERE on my Instagram feed, in book groups, in random bookish convos and now that I’ve finally read it? I GET IT. This series is a whole experience.

FINAL THOUGHTS: I’M ALL IN!

Now that I’ve finished Capone, it’s only right that I go straight to Cappadona. I already know I’m in for another wild ride, and I cannot wait. So if you haven’t started this series yet? This is your sign. This is your wake-up call. This is your official invitation. GET INTO IT! Trust me, you want to be a part of this conversation.
