Snow King Catches His Snowflake by A.E. Valdez

Hey Besties!

The next book I’m reviewing is the first book of the Three Kings series by A.E. Valdez, and let me tell you, sis is in her BAG with her books! I’ve read her entire catalog, and not a single book has disappointed me. This is actually my second read of this book, and let me just say, it hit just as good the second time around.

So, I originally planned to reread the entire Three Kings series before jumping into her latest book, North King’s Unexpected Inevitability (which I’m currently reading). But listen, I got caught up, reread this one, got into some other books, and somehow skipped over Mr. Winter for now. I’ve read him previously, but he’ll get his time again. Today, we’re talking about Snow!

I first read this book when I was getting back into reading after a long break like a year and a half, maybe two years ago. And whew, A.E. Valdez, you are the reason I’m reading again! I won’t turn this into an emotional moment, but just know that your books brought me back to something I truly love during a time I needed to find joy in something the most, and I appreciate that.

Now, let’s get into the story. We got Snow, the middle child of the trio, who decides to take a solo vacation during the holidays. And why? Because he doesn’t really mess with the holidays like that. Something happened in his past (no spoilers, don’t worry!), and ever since then, he’s just not here for the holiday cheer. But then, he meets Noelle. And BABY, the way they meet? Unprecedented. Like, I had to do a double take.

I personally saw this book as a modern Beauty and the Beast retelling. Because Snow? Sir, you were WILDIN’ with that attitude. The grumpiest of grumpy. But Noelle? Oh, she got him right together. “OKAY!!” She was patient, understanding, and exactly what he needed to soften those rough edges. Their chemistry? Chef’s kiss. Their banter? A1. Watching Snow evolve and step into a better version of himself with Noelle by his side was everything.

This was a solid 5/5 read for me. The second time around, it was just as good if not better. It had humor, emotion, tension, and a romance that felt genuine. If you love grumpy/sunshine, forced proximity, and a touch of holiday magic, then you need to add this to your TBR ASAP. I hope y’all read it and fall in love with these characters the way I did.
